During the May 16th Builder's Meeting, staff will provide an overview of the significant code changes in the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (2009 IECC to 2012 IECC) and the 2018 International Residential Code. (2012 IRC to 2018 IRC) The meeting will also cover potential drainage concerns within established subdivisions.
The State of Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance requires local governments to be within two publications of the most recent published edition of the International Code Council (ICC) codes. With the recent release of the 2018 I-Codes, the City of Brentwood is required to update to the 2012 IECC. The tentative adoption date is set for July, 2018.
The City of Brentwood is moving towards adoption of the 2018 I-Codes which includes the International Residential Code. (ISO) Tentative adoption date: January 2019.
Major improvements to residential structures within older-established subdivisions have been on the rise in recent years. Staff will be available to answer any specific questions you may have.
It would also be beneficial to bring a copy of the 2018 International Residential Code.
The State of Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance-Division of Fire Prevention is proposing adoption of the 2017 NFPA National Electrical Code. Tentative adoption date: October 1, 2018.
