The City of Brentwood and the community will continue celebrating the 50th year of its incorporation on Saturday, June 15 during BrentFest.  This free community festival will begin at 3pm and feature live music, a kid zone, a verity of sweet and savory food trucks, and a beer garden at Crockett Park in Brentwood.

The day’s music lineup will begin with Brentwood resident, Conner Smith, kicking off the show at 3pm.   The 18-year-old Brentwood Academy senior has been making waves among music insiders for the past two years previously opening for country acts like Sam Hunt, Kane Brown & Kip Moore.  Smith’s summer tour includes the Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga among others.    “I couldn’t be more excited to add a hometown stop to the summer tour.  To get to do a full show ten minutes from my house during a crazy summer ahead is going to be awesome,” Smith said.  "I played baseball, soccer, and Blaze football on the fields at Crockett Park, and have also grown up seeing the summer concerts at the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater.  I’m pumped to get up there and play for everyone,” Smith added.

The Guilty Pleasures Band will take the stage from 4-6pm.  The 80s tribute band will take festival goers back to a time when hair was big, and the music was crazy.  Their song list includes everything from Margaritaville, to Jack and Diane, to Ring of Fire to name a few.  They are followed by a rock and roll piano pair from 6-7pm.  Cruizin Keys has performed at countless events. From keeping the dancefloor packed at wedding receptions to donating thousands of dollars of tips back to fundraising events, Cruizin Keys is based out of Nashville and will accept your favorite song requests for the full hour.

He has also performed on movie soundtracks.

“We are SO EXCITED to play BrentFest!  We hope you join us in celebrating Brentwood’s 50th birthday while we play all the funkiest, danciest music you’ve ever heard! We will throw down some Earth, Wind, & Fire, Donna Summer, Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, and a whole lot more! Bring your dancin’ shoes, because we don’t play no slow songs,” said Tim Akers.

BrentFest and all the year’s 50th celebration events have been made possible by our presenting sponsor, Tractor Supply Company and many others.  Many of the sponsors will be handing out free items at the festival.  FirstBank is the sponsor of the festival’s kid zone.

The Brentwood 50th Steering Committee is spearheading the planning for BrentFest in partnership with Rhizome Productions company.  Rhizome is based in Nashville and produces craft beer and food events such as the East Nashville Beer Festival and others all over the country. "Rhizome Productions is honored to be part of BrentFest and to work with the City of Brentwood. We will showcase an array of domestic and craft beers for guests to enjoy plus a few special tastings during the day. We look forward to sharing our passion for beer and customer service with the City of Brentwood,” said Rhizome President, Matt Leff.  Rhizome is responsible for the management of the beer tent.   Alcohol will only be served to those 21 years of age and older with a valid I.D. and a wristband.   No one will be permitted to purchase a beer unless they are wearing a festival issued wristband.  From 6-8pm, more unique pours of beer, cider and seltzers will be served.   All beer will be served in 16-ounce cans for $8 each.   Cash and credit cards will be accepted.  Beer sales will end at 9:45pm.

BrentFest committee chairman, Jared Peters, said, “BrentFest will be a first of its kind event for our community.  Anyone who enjoys sampling craft beer while listening to amazing music, will enjoy this day,” said Peters.   As a young father, Peters is also excited about the large kid zone attractions sponsored by FirstBank.  “There will be a ball toss, a can smash game, football toss, basketball and four inflatables, including one specifically for toddlers.  We are so thankful to FirstBank for their support to this day of celebration,” said Peters.  Face painting and balloon making will also be available.  Children must be supervised in the kid zone.

BrentFest will be a family-oriented, community event and will take place rain or shine.  50th merchandise, including commemorative T-shirts, books, and an illustrated map will be available for sale at BrentFest.

BrentFest is in addition to our regular Summer Concert Series which kicks off June 9 with Rubiks Groove.  Sixwire will perform June 23, the Red, White and Boom Celebration on July 4th with the Kadillacs and the season ends on July 14 with the South Street Players.
