Brentwood utilizes an integrated municipal planning and codes department for more effective and coordinated management of all development issues that affect the built environment and quality of life in our community. The City is well-known for its high standards for new development. This ensures that a high-quality standard of living is maintained in the City's neighborhoods and commercial districts.
The Planning section guides the physical development of the City employing the guidance of the Brentwood 2030 Plan, while more specifically applying the Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations. Planning professionals can also assist with floodplain development, sign regulations, home occupations, and other miscellaneous development issues.
The Codes Enforcement section facilitates the entire range of residential and commercial construction in Brentwood, while also enforcing a range of standard municipal codes. Codes professionals ensure proper and safe construction practices, and remain available for consult on more technical building codes questions. Though the principal focus of the department is centered on residential development and additions, we also assist with commercial construction, swimming pools, fences, decks, and inquiries about the condition of neighboring properties.
