The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide ongoing maintenance services necessary to protect the City's infrastructure investment and to permit monthly pickup of brush when disposed of by residents. Examples of maintenance services include the installation and/or repair of potholes and other street failures, curbs and gutters, pavement markings, street signs, removal of street debris, street sweeping, right-of-way mowing, small drainage repairs, snow and ice removal and monthly chipper service.

Also, the department is responsible for preparing the capital improvement program for transportation projects and for completing an annual visual inspection on each street in the City to prepare a prioritized list of streets needing resurfacing.  The department also has a Spring & Fall cleanup that makes it possible for citizens to bring large items to specific locations for disposal. This is done the last three (3) Saturdays in April and October.
