Betsy Crossley was first elected in 2007 and is now serving her third term as a City Commissioner. Prior to serving as a City Commissioner, Crossley was a member of the Brentwood Planning and Historic Commissions. She has twice been elected Mayor of Brentwood and currently sits on the Library and Tree Boards.

Regionally, Crossley is serving her second appointed term as the County Mayor's Citizen Representative to the Williamson County Council of Economic Development.  Since 2008, she has been a member of the Executive Board of the Tennessee Municipal League (TML). In 2014, the Governor appointed Crossley to serve as a member of the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR). That same year, Crossley was one of five finalists for Women in Municipal Government’s National Leadership Award.


Betsy is married to Dr. George Crossley and they have two sons. She holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Georgia. Prior to moving to the Brentwood in 1999, she conducted research at the Medical College of Georgia and taught Honors Anatomy/Biology in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System, while sitting as an adjunct faculty member at Wake Forest University.
