Betsy Crossley was first elected in 2007 and is now serving her third term as a City Commissioner. Prior to serving as a City Commissioner, Crossley was a member of the Brentwood Planning and Historic Commissions. She has twice been elected Mayor of Brentwood and now sits as member of the Tree Board and Library Board.

Crossley served 10 years as a member of the Executive Board of the Tennessee Municipal League (TML). In 2014, the Governor appointed Crossley to serve as a member of the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR).  Crossley was one of five finalists for Women in Municipal Government’s National Leadership Award that year as well. She was the first woman in TN to serve on the TN Local Development Authority, sitting with the State’s Constitutional Officers on that Board.


Betsy is married to Dr. George Crossley. They have two sons, Ben and Rob. She holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Georgia. Prior to moving to the Brentwood in 1999, she conducted research at the Medical College of Georgia and later taught Honors Anatomy/Biology in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System, while sitting as an adjunct faculty member at Wake Forest University.
