Betsy Crossley was first elected in 2007 and is now serving her third term as a City Commissioner.  She has twice been elected Mayor of Brentwood and currently sits as a member of the Tree Board and Library Board.

In 2014, the Governor appointed Crossley to serve as a member of the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR). She was the first woman in the state to be appointed to the TN Local Development Authority, sitting with the State’s Constitutional Officers. Crossley recently completed 10 years of service to the Executive Board of the Tennessee Municipal League (TML) which represents the interests of all TN municipalities.  


Betsy is married to Dr. George Crossley. They have two sons, Ben and Rob. She holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology from the University of Georgia. Prior to moving to the Brentwood in 1999, she conducted research at the Medical College of Georgia and later taught Honors Anatomy/Biology in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System, while sitting as an adjunct faculty member at Wake Forest University.
