Fire suppression is the core of any fire department’s mission. Hundreds of training hours are focused annually on preparing to handle these devastating emergencies. Fortunately, most citizens will never experience the emotional stress and physical risk associated with having a fire in their home. Every citizen, however, receives a direct benefit of having a well equipped, well trained fire department in our city. Insurance Services Office, Inc. classifies a community’s fire protection based on the fire department, water supply, and emergency communications system. This classification ranges from a 1 (best possible fire protection) to a 10 (no fire protection). Insurance companies use this classification to determine rates for home owner’s insurance. Brentwood Fire & Rescue is currently an ISO Class 2 department, which saves each homeowner hundreds of dollars in insurance premiums each year.
