The City of Brentwood provides a full level of public services to its citizens, including administrative services; police protection; fire protection; 911 communications; parks and recreation facilities; an outstanding municipal library; community planning and building inspection; public works; engineering; and water and wastewater.
Engineer and improve the environment and quality of life for the citizens of Brentwood by managing new land development and capital transportation projects through development and construction.
Assistant City Manager, Jay Evans, oversees the Community Relations, Library, Parks, Public Works, and Water Services departments. Evans is also responsible for development of the City’s six-year Capital Improvements Program (CIP), coordination of the risk management program, and other special projects. Evans is originally from Florida and lives in Williamson County with his wife and children.

The goal of the Parks and Recreation Department is to provide a variety of active and passive park facilities and programs to accommodate the needs, interests and expectations of local residents and other users.

The Water Services Department includes staff who manage Brentwood’s Water and Sewer Systems. The City of Brentwood does not operate water or sewer treatment plants. Instead the City coordinates with several utilities such as the Harpeth Valley Utility District and Metro Water Services for our drinking water.

The Brentwood Public Works Department consists of 24 full-time employees. These men and women are responsible for the maintenance and repair of much of the City’s infrastructure.

The City Recorder maintains all official City records, including ordinances, resolutions, minutes, contracts, easements, and deeds; publishes and posts legal notices; and provides administrative support as needed to the City Manager and the City Commission.

Jason Gage has been the City of Brentwood's City Manager since April of 2025. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the city and ensures that the policies and programs approved by the Board of Commissioners are implemented in an effective and efficient manner.
