STORM DEBRIS
We have removed storm debris from approximately half of the residences in the city limits of Brentwood, during the first run through the city. The process is slow and tedious but we are making progress. Some days there is a truck at one house, removing 8+ piles. Some days our drivers can clear up to 3 houses. The amount of storm debris in the city is unprecidented, so again, we ask for your continued patience as we go through each street, each neighborhood, and each main road.
There are 20 trucks stationed all around the city and will be picking up storm debris from all residential neighborhoods (this includes gated communities and streets we would not normally go down during our brush pick up service). We do not have an exact timeline when we will be in your area, so please have your debris out and ready to go. We will be making 2 complete passes through the city, so if you are missed the first pass, we will catch you on the second.
This pick up is strictly for City of Brentwood residents. Work will be conducted Monday - Saturday, 6:30am to 5:00pm, dependent on weather and any other unforeseen issues. The time line for this work was estimated to be 6 weeks per complete run of the city. We are at about week 3 of the first run. We ask for your continued patience as we all work together.
Temporary Storm Debris Guidelines (This storm only)
- The City is now accepting debris up to 14 feet long. (Brentwood expanded this from its original eight foot requirement).
- There is no limit on diameter.
- Debris must be stacked within 10 feet of the curb or edge of street.
- Debris must have a 5-foot horizontal clearance of any fixed object, such as a hydrant, mailbox, phone pedestal, pole, etc.
- Debris cannot be stacked under the canopy of a tree, even if the pile is five feet from the base of the tree. The machine also needs vertical clearance.
- Only downed trees, limbs, and other vegetation are accepted. Stumps will also be accepted. Please remove the stump from the tree.
- During this emergency, we will accept debris cut by a contractor as long as it is placed properly by the curb.
- No other waste, construction material allowed.
- Do not place debris on HOA or other property not owned by you.
- Do not allow anyone to add debris to the pile in front of your home that did not originate there.
Mission
To provide ongoing maintenance services necessary to protect the City's infrastructure.
About the Department
The Brentwood Public Works Department consists of 24 full-time employees. These men and women are responsible for the maintenance and repair of much of the City’s infrastructure. This consists of more than 267 miles of roadway which includes services like maintenance, snow plowing, street sweeping, pavement repairs and resurfacing, pavement markings, street signs, traffic signals, right-of-way mowing, excavation & directional boring permits, and litter pick-up. The department is also responsible for storm water management, monthly residential brush collection at more than 14,500 addresses, fleet maintenance, spring & fall cleanup, and the Adopt-A-Mile program. All off this takes place across approximately 42 square miles, although the City continues to grow. The employees are flexible and versatile and must be able to routinely respond to any type of emergency. The 24 Public Work employees are only a small sampling of the talent and dedicated folks employed by the City of Brentwood.
