BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Earlier this summer, two of the Brentwood Police Department’s newest officers – Rylie Lassetter and Aaron Yoder – joined Police Chief Jim Colvin on the firing range. The officers both had previous law enforcement experience, so they knew how to handle a weapon.

“I’ll tell on myself,” Colvin said. “When we were on the range about a week ago, they both shot higher than I did.”

On Aug. 18, the city officially welcomed these highly skilled officers into the Department when Mayor Nelson Andrews administered their oaths of office.

Rylie Lassetter

Lassetter, an Alabama native, attended Northeast Alabama Community College, where he earned an associate degree in science. He served for two years as an officer with the Rainsville Police Department in Alabama.

“He is scheduled to attend the transition academy in September, and he should have no issues on the firing range,” Colvin said. “He was deciding between a couple of different departments; we weren’t sure which way it was going to go, but I think he made a great decision and we’re better off for it. We’re happy to have him.”

Aaron Yoder

Originally from Indiana, Yoder is currently working on his bachelor’s degree in sports and health sciences from the American Military University. He previously served for eight years in the U.S. Army.

“After leaving the army, he went to the Veterans Affairs Police, where he was the training sergeant,” Colvin said. “He’s also scheduled to attend the transition academy in September, and I don’t need to tell you he’s going to do well, also.”
