Brentwood Sending 2040 Plan Survey Postcards to All City Households

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The City of Brentwood is asking residents to share their thoughts on this community’s future as work continues on the Brentwood 2040 Plan, a strategic update to the city’s existing Brentwood 2030 Plan.

Beginning in the last week of August and continuing into the first week of September, every Brentwood household will receive a postcard inviting residents to participate in a 2040 Plan survey. The postcard will include a QR code and a unique identifier that will allow the household to access the survey. Brentwood businesses also will receive separate postcards inviting them to participate in a business survey.

Residents are encouraged to complete the survey by Sept. 30.

“We felt it was important to give every Brentwood household an opportunity to participate, rather than relying on a small sampling of residents,” City Manager Jason Gage said. “The input we receive will help identify the priorities that should guide Brentwood’s planning and development for the next 15-20 years.”

The Brentwood 2040 Plan is a strategic update to the city’s existing 2030 Plan and will provide a long-range framework for the community’s future growth, development, and preservation. The process will address topics including current and future economic viability, future land use, transportation, infrastructure, public services, quality of life, and other priorities identified by the community.

How the Process Works

The City, along with its consultants McBride Dale Clarion and Burch Transportation, is collecting and evaluating input from residents, businesses, and other community stakeholders. Surveys, community meetings, and other public engagement opportunities are being used to identify community priorities and inform the plan.

The 2040 Plan Advisory Committee, consisting of 21 residents serving on Business, Quality of Life, and Transportation subcommittees, also will review the community input and work with City staff and consultants to identify goals and objectives for the updated plan.

The City expects the 2040 Plan to be completed and adopted by the end of 2026.
