BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – What’s the best word to describe this year? Semiquincentennial? Sestercentennial? Quarter Millennium? They’re all unwieldy, so most people celebrating the nation’s birthday in 2026 are simply calling it America 250.

This year marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which was formally adopted on July 4, 1776. Shortly after this nation was established, several veterans of the American Revolution made their way, via land grants, to Brentwood, Tennessee. Nine of those veterans are buried here, which makes the semiquincentennial – or is it sestercentennial? – a special time for this community.

This year’s Brentwood Summer Concert Series will honor the spirit of America 250 by spotlighting different eras of popular music. This annual event provides residents with four free concerts from May through July, including the sixth Annual BrentFest Summer Music Festival, and the City’s Fourth of July concert and fireworks celebration – Red, White, and Boom!

In addition to live music, these concerts offer family-friendly activities and several food trucks for visitors to enjoy. This year’s schedule includes:

  • Sunday, May 31, 6-8 p.m. – “The Golden Era of the British Invasion,” featuring The Wannabeatles.
  • Sunday, June 14, 6-8 p.m. – “The Classic Rock Tribute Era,” featuring The Eaglemaniacs.
  • Saturday, June 28, 6-9 p.m. – The Sixth Annual BrentFest, featuring a beer garden and fun zone for children. The night, celebrating the “Pop and Rock Era,” will include performances by the Cruizin Keys Dueling Pianos and the 1980s cover band Rubiks Groove.
  • Saturday, July 4, 5-10 p.m. - Red, White, and Boom!, with the return of The Downtown Band, one of Industry Expert Awards’ “Top 10 Best Party Bands in the United States.”

More Boom! This Year

This year, the City will offer an enhanced Red, White and Boom! celebration with a fife and drummer performance, in Revolutionary War attire, from 5-7 p.m. in Crockett Park’s BrentVale Pavilion. During that time, face painters and other patriotic performers will be moving through the park.

At 7 p.m., a Revolutionary War color guard will present the colors and fire their muskets. The Downtown Band will perform from 7:05-9 p.m. The evening will end with a longer fireworks show than in years past, featuring larger, celebratory explosions.

All events will take place in Crockett Park’s Eddy Arnold Amphitheater, located at 1500 Volunteer Parkway. Be sure to follow Brentwood’s official social media accounts for updates on these events.
