On July 14, long-time Brentwood resident Stevan Pippin was appointed as the seventh member of the Brentwood City Commission. He will take the oath of office during the July 28 meeting, and Pippin will serve as a Brentwood Commissioner until May 2027, when that seat will be up for general election.

The seat opened in May, following the resignation of former Commissioner Susannah Macmillan. More than 20 Brentwood residents applied for the open seat, and after two rounds of voting, Pippin was appointed to the commission.

“I want to thank all the candidates,” Mayor Nelson Andrews said. “As several folks mentioned, there are a lot of opportunities to get involved, and I hope you felt like the process was a positive one. I hope that we see more of you, not less, as we move forward.”

Pippin, an entertainment industry professional, has lived in Brentwood for 44 years. In 2015, he was appointed to the Brentwood Planning Commission and has served more than three terms as that body’s vice chairman. He also previously served on the Music Selection Committee for the Brentwood Summer Concert Series.

Pippin is a member of Brentwood Baptist Church, where he has served as a deacon for more than 20 years.

“Brentwood is my home, and I love being able to give back to this great community via service,” Pippin said in his City Commission application. “I also want to continue to help preserve and protect all the things that make Brentwood unique among cities, not just here in Tennessee but throughout the country.”
