Crouch taking Oath of Office

On July 14, the City of Brentwood officially welcomed its newest firefighter – Travis Crouch – and two new police officers – Julia Davis and Griffin Emrick – when the three public safety professionals took their formal oath of office.

Travis Crouch

The ceremony began with Brentwood Fire Chief Brian Collins introducing Crouch, a native of Paducah, Kentucky, to the City Commission.

“He’s a four-year collegiate baseball player who played for the Union College, which is now the Union Commonwealth University in Kentucky,” Collins said. “While he was there, he earned his Bachelor of Science in exercise science and a master’s degree in healthcare administration.”

For the last four years, Crouch worked as a firefighter for the City of Chattanooga.

“While he was there, he was awarded their Medal of Valor for a rescue of a woman who was trapped in a structure fire,” Collins said.

Julia Davis

Brentwood Police Chief Jim Colvin then introduced Julia Davis, a Gilroy, California-native, as one of Brentwood’s two new police officers.

“Julia attended the University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania,” Colvin said. “That’s not a typo. She has a bachelor’s and a master’s in criminology. While she was in college, she was also an athlete; she played field hockey.”

She graduated in June from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy and is currently in the Department’s Field Training Program.

Griffin Emrick

Davis graduated from the academy with Griffin Emrick, who also took the oath of office that Monday. Originally from Murfreesboro, Emrick attended Middle Tennessee State University and served for six years in the U.S. Army.

“He served as a line medic in Germany for three years and as an instructor in South Carolina for two and a half years,” Colvin said. “He obtained the Expert Field Medical Badge and the Air Assault Badge during his time as a combat medic in the U.S. Army.”

Emrick is also in the Department’s Field Training Program.
