The City of Brentwood is collaborating with the City of Franklin on the McEwen Drive extension project, as it impacts both municipalities. This project involves the proposed extension of McEwen Drive in Franklin from Wilson Pike to the Taramore subdivision. Brentwood will later extend the road through the Taramore subdivision.
The preliminary engineering design is nearing completion. Following completion, right-of-way acquisition is expected Summer 2025. Initial construction activities are expected to proceed concurrently with the ongoing McEwen Phase 4 roadway improvements being constructed by the City of Franklin, which extend from east of the roundabout at Cool Springs Boulevard/Oxford Glen Drive to Wilson Pike (SR-252). The designed road will be a median-divided, 4-lane roadway with left-turn lanes, curb and gutter, sidewalk, a multi-use path, and street lighting.
The extension of McEwen Drive has been identified as a priority in the Brentwood 2030 Plan. Once completed, this roadway section will provide a direct link from the new I-65 interchange to the Taramore subdivision, with the potential for further connectivity to Pleasant Hill Road, Clovercroft Road, and eventually Nolensville, Smyrna, and I-24 — offering an alternative east/west route to help alleviate congestion on Concord Road, Crockett Road, Moores Lane, and Split Log Road.
