Project Description
Sunset Road is a key and heavily trafficked arterial road in east Brentwood, due to the growth of residential neighborhoods in the area and the proximity of Sunset Elementary and Middle Schools just east of Waller. The Sunset Road connection to Ragsdale Road provides an essential route to Wilson Pike, Ravenwood High School, and eventually to Cool Springs, helping to relieve some of the traffic on Concord Road.
This project is the third since 2018 to focus on safety improvements to Sunset Road. Previously completed projects have realigned the dangerous Ragsdale/Sunset Road intersection, which was once the site of frequent vehicular accidents, and widened Sunset Road from Concord to the north of Ragsdale Road. The third and final phase of this project will widen Sunset Road from Ragsdale Road to the city limits at Waller Road. The improved roadway will feature a three-lane curb and gutter cross-section with a 10-foot-wide multi-use path on the south side, continuing from the previously improved sections of Sunset Road. This project is expected to move to construction in 2030. The City of Nolensville has a project planned to widen Sunset Road from Nolensville Road to Waller Road, where this project ends. Once this is completed, this will provide a 3-lane section from Nolensville Road to Concord Road.
