The City of Brentwood is not a 501(c)(3) organization, but as a “governmental unit” under I.R.C. § 170(c)(1), charitable contributions to governmental units are deductible when made for a public purpose.  Brentwood always advises individuals making donations to consult the advice of a tax professional.

The City of Brentwood is in the process of developing a Veterans' Memorial on city property. A Veterans Memorial Ad Hoc Committee was established in June 2025 to develop designs and raise funds for this project.

The project's goals include:

  • To construct a monument to honor Brentwood’s military service veterans that is of such quality that it evokes significant pride from our local veterans and citizens.
  • To ensure the project includes interpretative aspects related to the perspectives of our veterans, the families of our veterans, and the citizen soldier.
  • To fund the project construction through private funds raised from the Brentwood community.
  • To establish a total project cost target of approximately $1.5 million.
  • To provide a location that is centrally located within the community, easy to access, offers sufficient parking and is suitable for veteran events.

The monument will be erected at 910 Heritage Way, next to the Brentwood Police Headquarters.

The City Commission approved the final concept plans in May 2026.  Fundraising has commenced and the committee will proceed with full full design once 50% of the fundraising target has been achieved.
