Suppression
Fire suppression is a fundamental component of Brentwood Fire & Rescue’s mission. Each year, firefighters dedicate hundreds of hours to intensive training designed to prepare them for the complex and high-risk nature of structural fires. While most residents may never personally experience a house fire, the presence of a highly trained, well-equipped fire department benefits every member of the community.
Beyond emergency response, a professional fire department plays a key role in reducing the financial burden on residents. The Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluates fire protection in communities across the country, assigning a rating from Class 1 (exemplary fire protection) to Class 10 (minimal or no protection). These ratings are based on three primary factors: the quality of the fire department, the availability of water supply, and the effectiveness of emergency communications systems.
Brentwood Fire & Rescue currently holds a Class 2 ISO rating, placing it among the top departments in the nation. This high rating not only reflects the department’s operational excellence but also translates into substantial savings on homeowners' insurance premiums—often hundreds of dollars per year per household.
Through constant training, strategic resource deployment, and strong infrastructure, Brentwood Fire & Rescue ensures the community is well protected and financially supported.
